Western Terrorism: Where Have We Ended Up Here?

It’s time to confront reality. A naive Facebook commentator, evidently immersed in propaganda, claims that the true “mainstream media” is “the internet,” and surprisingly, many accept this as truth. But let’s be clear: the internet is not immune to manipulation; it is inundated with countless websites and accounts parroting mainstream narratives — mantras that the uninformed and superficial often swallow unquestioningly.

My comment on a post by two former Democratic senators revealed this. These senators, in suspiciously synchronized and well-timed declarations, expressed support for rearmament of Europe, citing the death of a Ukrainian journalist, possibly but not proven at the hands of the Russians. Without citing credible sources, they indulged in gruesome, unverified details that serve only to promote their agenda. Their applause comes from a crowd of complicit journalists and media outlets owned by financial entities intertwined with arms manufacturers and government interests. These journalists have long abandoned any pretense of fact-checking, tuned in with the chorus without scrutiny.

What’s equally alarming is their silence on the more than 200 journalists and 55,000 civilians — including women, children, doctors, and humanitarian workers — massacred in Gaza using Western arms. No sanctions, no boycotts — only silence from those same voices that loudly advocate for war against Russia. The journalist whose body was returned received an award from a Western foundation for press freedom. Yet, we know little about the circumstances of her arrest or her actual role beyond reporting. What was she reporting? To whom? Questions remain unanswered. Such tragedies are dire, but they pale in comparison to the disproportionate outrage over Palestine. The deaths of civilians in Gaza, the torture at Guantanamo and in Israeli prisons, the unlawful detention of Palestinian minors, and the disgraceful atrocities, like Abu Ghraib, are ignored or dismissed as collateral damage in a distant narrative.

The killing of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by Israel remains unpunished; no justice has been served. Meanwhile, Israelis travel freely across Europe, immune to sanctions.

I oppose war — every war — including the current Ukraine conflict. I dream of peace, swiftly achieved. But let’s be honest: Russian military actions are primarily against military targets, not civilians. Yet, civilians often suffer — sometimes due to Ukrainian actions, with their president delivering incendiary, terrorist-like rhetoric, launching attacks on civilian areas. We’ve become numb to the horrors, forgetting the hundreds of cowardly attacks, including the murder of Professor Alexander Dugin’s daughter.

Daily, the mainstream media bombards us with graphic reports about a civilian injured in Ukraine. Then they hardly mention the hundreds of women, children, and refugees killed by deliberate bombings in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon. All this chaos fuels a naive narrative in which pro-Nazi, fascist propaganda, supported by governments and almost the entire opposition, replaces honest discourse. Meanwhile, the internet, hailed as a bastion of “counter-information,” is manipulated and flooded with distortions that serve the interests of those in power.

Where are we heading? What has become of our civilization? We are at a crossroads — either wake up or continue down this dangerous path of misinformation, silence, and complicity.
